Inspiring Young Minds: Why I Love Design by Mr. Mirza Basic
Mr. Mirza Basic delivered an engaging and thought-provoking lecture titled “Why I Love Design”,
offering students at BH School London a captivating introduction to the world of UX (User
Experience) design. With energy and clarity, he explained the core principles behind product design
— from branding and aesthetics to usability and function — helping children understand how
creative ideas are transformed into successful products.
Mirza further illustrated the practical application by using the example of wristwatches, which made
the abstract ideas more accessible and understandable for the children, significantly improving their
perception of the lecture content. This hands-on approach brought abstract ideas to life, capturing
the imagination of every child in the room.
As curiosity ignited, the lecture seamlessly transformed into a dynamic and interactive session. The
children eagerly embraced the opportunity to step into the role of designers, immersing themselves
in the creative process. They explored the intricacies of design, sketched innovative concepts, and
proudly developed two unique applications. New Version of Spotify, aimed at providing an
enhanced music-listening experience, presented by Elma Basic, and An App to Encourage People to
Get Fit, designed to promote healthy lifestyles, presented by Lejla Sabic. The children showcased
their ability to design impactful innovations that could serve the greater good and enhance
community well-being.
Furthermore, the parents demonstrated remarkable creativity by collaborating to design the “BH
School Library” concept proudly presenting it to the audience. Their efforts also emphasized the
significance of community engagement through impactful and enjoyable volunteer-led initiatives.
